What is NewsTrain?
APME's NewsTrain offers practical advice and proven techniques designed to help frontline editors polish their editing and management skills, and to become more effective editors for print and online news coverage.
Nationally recognized trainers teach skills that editors can use on the job right away. The program features workshop leaders in management/leadership, editing/coaching, online news and credibility/ethics.
Editors designed the two-day workshop to be useful, interactive and inspiring. We know what the frontline job entails -- intense problem-solving; critical evaluation and an understanding of human nature. This program provides common-sense advice that helps mid-level editors navigate their newsrooms.
The cost is only $50. For that price, editors are welcome to attend the entire program or any segment of it. The price generally includes some meals and coffee breaks.
Why a whistlestop tour?
We think it's important to bring high-quality training to your region. The program relies on local partners - newspapers; the Associated Press; a state press association and a college journalism school - to plan and deliver each workshop.
Editors from around the region are invited to attend. We bring the training to you so that your time away from the newsroom is cut to a minimum.
